spoken word | a voice in the night

Poetry was always the spoken word, and although we long write it out, it's never quite the same as the poet's voice, because to hear the poet read gives the emphasis where it is intended, the slip and tone of voice, the love or sarcasm inherent (all depending on the poem and subject, of course.)

Not all poems are 'pretty.' Nowhere is that more apparent than perhaps here on Tant Mieux. Yes, there are some 'nice' (whatever that means) poems, and maybe you connect with those, but there are also some pretty tough ones, some erotic ones, some absolutely scathing poems, and some that are just downright depressing, there may even be some to which you take objection but remember, they are likely not aimed at you (and if they are, you know who you are). Whichever way they go, each poem, we hope, has it's various merits and a voice that you'll hear and want to keep coming back to.  Note too that we keep this section in flux, so the poems should change pretty regularly - so do check back, or if we aren't changing fast enough, use the contact link and let us know. If there is a particular poem you would like to have read in this section, please use the Contact Link and simply ask and it will be done, presto and I will let you know when the poem is up so you can listen.

If you want, you can to to the Archives, find the poem you want to listen to (most are from Other poems or Love poems), select the poem (they are in alphabetical order) and read along. Or, you can just sit back and listen. Your choice. I update this section as often as possible, though some poems are particularly popular, so  by popular demand they stay a while - but always use the contact link - don't be shy!
