seventeen signs and that's all you need to know

london lovers owen hartford.jpgSo you are sure of how you feel, are you? Do you know when you are in-love? What if I were to point out seventeen signs that tell you all you need to know about a person - how you feel, would that help? Surely others have made lists, but here is a list with additions and edits that I am quite certain holds true for any and everyone who is well, where X marks the spot. Read on. Seventeen signs that tell you for sure, should you try to convince yourself otherwise, really, who are you kidding;

You look at their profile constantly. You photograph it, think about it. You have an absurd number of photographs of the person's profile, yet to you they are all slightly different. You think about that profile on the pillow next to you.

When you're on the phone with them late at night and they hang up, you still miss them even when it was just two minutes ago. Apply the same to an instant message. You miss them the minute you close out the window, and no matter how long you have been speaking via IM, it never seems or feels like enough. It's just not enough. You need him/her in the Here and Now.

You read their Texts and Ims Over and over again. You save every email. You save both sides of the correspondence and maybe even forwarded it to another account so that your love letters are saved forever in a safe place. You re-read them often and find that you are filled with yearning so much so that at times, it actually physically hurts, you swear it.

You walk very slowly when you're with them.

You feel shy whenever they're around, finding yourself often "muette" (tongue-tied) and blushing (whether you are normally shy or not is irrelevant. Around that person you suddenly become so and feel awkard as a newborn deer.)

When you think about them, your heart beats faster yet slower at the same time.

You smile when you hear their voice. You yearn to hear their voice, and you love every tone of their accent and turn of phrase.

When you look at them and are with them, other people cease to exist. You see only him or her. You could be in the middle of Grand Central yet it is just the two of you held in the palm of the world while the rest of the world spins. Other people fail to understand the closeness between the two of you and you can't explain it either, but it is just you two and that's all there is to it. You can't do anything about it.

You start listening to slow songs while thinking about them. When you are with them, when you think about certain times with them, you think of certain songs or you could - a sort of soundtrack that is applicable.

They're all you think about. You find yourself noticing things that you never noticed before and wanting to give them to that person - small token things. A blue-jay feather or a found object that suddenly takes on significance - and it does.

You know exactly what they smell like and the scent of them makes you giddy, high. There are times when you swear you can smell them, even when they are hundreds of miles away.

You realize you're always smiling when you're looking at them, even if it is a photograph. In person, the minute your eyes meet theirs, a giant smile comes over both of your faces, likewise when you hear their voice. You can't help but smile and laugh and you don't know why.

You would do anything for them, and you would do anything just to see them.

While reading this, there was one person on your mind this whole time.

You were so busy thinking about that person, you didnt notice number twelve was missing

You just scrolled up to check because you can't believe how true this is but are now silently laughing at yourself.

Now say a prayer, make a wish, pray to whatever you may believe in and smile, because from a distance, can there be any doubt that this other knows you smile too as you read this? Love can be both lovely and terrifying at once, but always, it is beautiful.

How true are these 3 or more years down the line? What are the signs then?

I can only speak for myself - but the signs haven't changed... I still feel the same way about "him" (names to protect the innocent, right?) that I did three years ago... so for me, anyway, the above all apply only, deeper now....
