I am a small farmer, my animals are raised with kindness and respect, when it's time, they are killed the same way.

There is no way I can see to allow them all to live out their natural lifespan.

Do you propose that we just turn them all loose to fend for themselves? slaughter them all at once and be done with it?

The hillside farms here in Vermont are fit only to grow grass, animals are needed to use it. The farm animals of today have been bred for thousands of years to live in symbiosis with humans, they certainly would not survive in Vermont's climate in the wild.
