It's the sort of thing that some people feel is not worthwhile and they will not pay for it and that's clearly their choice. They can buy the two disc CD set, and that lacks the third CD, and the vinyl, the text book, and the single covers (so the deluxe edition, which is limited) but that's fine... it's all subjective.

As I got into this discussion on Dylan.com where this article was featured with a really nice and knowledgeably guy, I've worked in publishing my whole life, so I was explaining the cost of goods to him per the set and how much it costs to die-cut a piece like the deluxe edition, hence the price. Thing is, nobody holds a gun to your head to buy it: you can buy the two CD set and leave it at that. Ya know? But again, this sort of publishing on the deluxe edition is greatly expensive... If you're curious, you can see the discussion at this link:

http://www.bobdylan.com/#/users/sadiransonpolizzotti/blog/tell-tale-signs-tell-it-like-it-is-pre-release-review-sadi-ranson-po

That should take you there and to the comments section. Note: I am aware there are some really silly typos in this and I WILL fix them in due course. I want to do a more thorough review of the set once I have had some more time to listen to it and peruse the book and singles book more (which I may just give a review of that as a separate thing, since a lot of people are saying they won't buy it, it may be worth reviewing... no?

Always nice to hear from you..

My Pennebaker interview should be up as soon as I get some remaining questions answered by him... and I have an interview with Phil Gounis coming up v. soon as well. Fascinating guy.

Hope to see you soon.

Cheers,

S

Will Brennan comments on Tell Tale Signs: Tell It Like It Is - Pre-Release Review by Sadi Ranson-Polizzotti

Hi Sadi

Nice article, lots of great information about the CD. I think you've convinced me to get it! I of course would have at some point, but because of this I'll be getting it sooner. He's just some git who got a gig or created his show.

Would love to have your article re: Dylan's Australia tour - a foreign correspondent, hey! Totally can use that...

And Dylan just wins the Pulitzer... somehow i don't see that happening for Kelly Clarkson. I have nothing against her at all - not for a second - but Cowell is just an idiot. More, is he speaking for her? The last thing I heard was that he said Clarkson had a "better voice" and "range" which perhaps is true, but she lacks Dylan's songwriting genius and i doubt will go down in history as someone who is already so freakin' huge and socially important and has written some of the most important songs of our time - i don't see that from American idol (fuck whether you like the show or not. that's irrelevant... it's an aside and not the point). Yes, other people have huge talent - no question, but why slam Dylan to prove that point or try to make a point? It's just stupid.... But then, nobody said Cowell was that smart. Nice man-boobs tho.. maybe that's why he wears those black t-shirts all the time...

cheers,

s.

Ian Lovell comments on bob dylan bores simon cowell, oh dear! by sadi ranson-polizzotti

Good article.I have just discovered the site.
